I just discovered Lomography. And I found a way to convert photos to the "LOMO" look using Photoshop CS4.
The first photo I took myself. The second, unfortunately not.

I had a great time yesterday at the first Worldwide Photo Walk! There were 47 photographers for the Indianapolis event. We met downtown near the home of this month's Indy Fringe Festival. We starting shooting photos at 9 AM, as did over 8,000 people from cities around the world.
Our task was to walk around the city for 2 hours taking photos. Some people stayed in small groups. Others, like me, forged their own trail. Since I live near downtown I wanted to head toward areas of the city where I don't walk my dogs.
I hoped to meet at least one other gay photographer, but I didn't get the gay radar on anyone. I also hoped to see something like Tim saw, but not this time. Still, it was a great experience for me. There will be one winning photo from each city, and one worldwide winner. I think it's going to be difficult to compete with photographers from London, Honolulu, or Sydney, but you never know.
Here are a few of my photos. The last photo was taken last week, but I thought you'd enjoy the sexy man.
Did you notice that Victory, also know as Miss Indiana, is pointing to the moon?
I love the brass guitar door knobs!
Woof! And his cologne smelled good too. Does that mean he's gay?
I'm excited and a little nervous about the Photo Walk tomorrow. I'm looking forward to meeting new photographers. Hopefully they won't all be experts with their 2 or 3 cameras. Right now the weather forecast looks like rain in the morning, but supposedly our team leader has a backup plan if it rains. There are 43 people registered today. The limit is 50 per city.
I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow, along with some of the photos I take.
Have a great weekend!

Last July I told you about my friend G, who made some poor choices and found himself in relationship hell.
The good news is G was able to rid himself of the guy who broke his heart and robbed him of thousands of dollars.
The bad news is G replaced that whole mess with another one.
About a month ago G discovered the world of online dating and chatting. One of the first guys he met in a chat room gave G lots of attention. I told G to be careful, just because someone shows an interest in you doesn't mean (a) they are who they say they are and (b) doesn't mean there are no genuine guys out there that you haven't met yet.
G said not to worry, he enjoyed chatting with the guy.
I reminded myself, once again, to let it go. It's his life.
A few weeks later G called me and said he was still chatting heavily with this guy. However it was difficult because (a) the guy is bipolar and (b) he lives in New York, a hop skip and a long jump from Indiana.
I asked G if he had chatted with other guys or checked gay.com. He said no.
Yesterday G sends this text: "I'm going to try and meet R (the New York guy) this Friday for one night if I can find a dog sitter. You don't know the real story. It explains everything. We cannot go without talking to each other."
G is coming over for dinner tonight. He wants to talk more about that and about my mom.
I'll try to be good and just be present for him, not judgmental.

Man, that was a long haul! I had one of those nasty sinus infections that lasted about a week.
Fortunately, it didn't prevent me from posting some hot Good Morning Men!
T was a fantastic nurse. He even fixed dinner last night which was sweet because cooking is not one of his favorite things to do. But the dinner was delicious nonetheless.
Last night in bed before T fell asleep I whispered to him, "You're just like Alice Kramden." Half asleep he replied, "Why do you say that?" I said, "Because Baby, your the greatest!" He laughed, and was soon snoring.
Unfortunately , I'm still contagious so I'm going to miss the third photography class. Damn! At least the one class I attended dealt with the aspects of photography that I need the most help with: using all of those manual settings on the camera.
Being forced on the couch did allow me to catch up on reading. And I signed up for Oprah's class on A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle. There's even a workbook. (Don't tell anyone, but I've always had a thing for workbooks. I remember in elementary school there was usually a workbook that supplemented the textbook. I loved filling out those workbooks, even if I didn't know the answers. The poor schoolkids these days just get worksheets.)
Tomorrow I'm going to take it easy one more day so I can get rid of the cough. Tomorrow night I'll be on the couch with my MacBook watching Session 2 of Oprah's live webclass.
Have a good week!

Today I find it difficult to keep to one topic. My mind is in a whirlpool. So instead I'll list some updates.
• The massage never happened. D had to cancel. Maybe some other time.
• Mom started receiving hospice care a few days ago. I don't know if she benefits from this or not. I just hope she doesn't endure pain.
• I attended my photography class yesterday! There are 13 in the class, and only 2 of us are male. (And no, he's not cute.) Yesterday we learned how to use all of the manual settings on a DSLR camera. I learned a lot.
• I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for the election results. I have no idea what's going to happen, but hopefully Obama will come out with a larger lead. I could spend all day playing with Slate's delegate counter.
• The cable guy is coming over this afternoon. My internet speeds have been wacko the past few weeks. During the day I get around 9800, but at night it's only 1300! I want speed all of the time!
• I cannot fathom how someone can kill a child, let alone anyone else.
• On a happy note:

A few weeks ago I signed up for a 4 week photography class on using digital SLR cameras. I want to learn how to use the manual settings instead of depending on the AUTO button (hence the name of my blog, Point & Shoot).
I went to bed early last night so I would get plenty of rest before the morning class.
But at 4 a.m. I woke up with stomach pain, a fever, and later . . . you know the rest. It wasn't pretty.
I missed my first class! Hopefully it was just a general introduction to the camera.
Meanwhile I better study the manual.
Going back to bed now.

I caught the stomach bug that's going around town.
The weather outside matches my mood: BLAH
So I took my camera out to the backyard and captured these cheery berries hanging in the grayness.
Be back soon. Stay well.

Cool! Now you can edit your Flickr photos right in Flickr. There's a new Edit button above each photo. It's no Photoshop replacement, but it's great for a quick easy fix. I just hope they increase the speed. It was pretty slow this morning.

Yesterday T and I walked over to the Harrison Center to visit an art gallery entitled City of Odd. All the exhibits are by Kipp Normand, and they feature works made from objects commonly thrown away. There were old postcards, bottles, marbles, jacks, and old newspaper clippings.
My favorite is the one entitled Attention & Quality, 2007. See the round clown toy in the upper left corner? I remember playing with those at my grandma's house. You had to get the two metal balls to drop into the holes in the clown's eyes. Kinda creepy.
More photos follow.

Today I set 2 goals for myself:
Hopefully making these goals public will give me the motivation I need.
T and I had a good day yesterday. After “gay church” Tony asked if I'd like to have a date. That our code phrase for sex. And, of course, I said yes! T is getting more comfortable talking during sex, and I love talkin' dirty. Plus looking at T's muscular black body adds to the pleasure.
(Sorry Thom, this isn't him, but it could be.)
After a quick nap we went to SuperTarget. It's becoming quite the gay mecca for grocery shopping. We saw 5 gay couples: 4 men and 1 women.
I just read an excellent article about gay relationships from one of my daily reads:
GAYTWOGETHER: 5 Deadly Relationship Mistakes That Gay Couples Can Make
Time to go. I need to find my camera.
